Three easy actions for handling advertising hazards. 
You can create a compelling advertising message and still manage potential pitfalls. Here's how: 
  • Back it up. Keep solid documentation supporting your advertising claim. Your intent in making a claim makes no difference. Liability is strict.
  • Make disclaimers clear. If necessary, qualify your claim.  Be certain the qualification is precise. And bring it to the reader's attention with prominence, presentation, placement and proximity. 
  • Don't hide the ball. When offering a rebate, do not hide any condition, cost or key component. You may win in the short term. But you'll lose big in the long-term.
